GUYS EMERGENCY PLEASE HELP

Guys please help I dont know what to do. I have 20 gallons of fresh SW made and am going to keep doing a water change but this temp thing freaking broke in my sump. Water is cloudy so I cant see a dang thing. My UVs went out and the skmer went down a few days ago and I fixed those so I was working on water changes to clear the water because I thought that also was the cause since the water went cloudy overnight. Never had anything like this happen!!! And whats the brown stuff coming out of it?? Freaking out that Im going to lose fish!! Also got shocked in the water when I went to start my waterchange and thats how I discovered this

Not much help but in addition to water changes I would start some carbon GAC if you haven't already. Not sure what coming out of the heater but I would guess saltwater and some corroded metals. It may have been leaking and that caused it to burst. Just guesses.

Looks like the heater was shocked (temp change) or went dry. The brown is the water that was on it boiling off. Unless it was leaking for a while, I don't think the circuitry would have rusted overnight.

Moving forward, Go with titanium units such as Finnex. Removed anything you can find. Should not be toxic and often when these fry, they go out rather than electrocution.
Add high grade carbon to system to assure no risk of toxins but do a water change first

Yeah 100% learned that lesson. For sure will be getting one. I have some carbon in now, doing a water change. How much should I do for water change? I have more carbon coming tomorrow. Just put the last bit I had in there to try and help.

Agree, water changes and carbon. Replace heater and keep an eye on it. Fingers crossed for no losses!

Okay so thats most likely not toxic to them?? Not sure how long this was like this, thinking a few days maybe. Was so focused with the issue with the UV and skimmer I didnt see this

Really bad picture and excuse the salt and algae everywhere but the tank water is so foggy! It had an algae bloom Im sure since some of it was slightly green and cloudy the last few days and I was fixing broken things I thought were the issue. But that cloudy happened overnight! Been sick today and the last few days on top of it so I was doing what I could. Ugh nightmare!!! Is this all form this F’in heater???

If it’s any solace to you,

It looks like your tank is mostly Fish Only, and not too many metals will kill Fish, if there is even harmful metals in the heater.

Fish can be very resilient so I’m sure they will all be fine!

Full water change and again in a week
It is the reason I purchased these, had them for 5 years and I will never have this problem
