Believe me He wont starve himself. Make sure you feed him some krill, small pieces of shrimp or other meaty foods. But he will move to get what light he wants

ok thanks hes eating well just want him to come forward a bit he is fully expanding around 9 inches

I am guessing he is new.. Probably has been in a tank with less light and adjusting to the new light...

Did (are )) you acclimate it to your lights?

What size tank?

i have been turning lights on slowly got 4 tubes running just have to get last 2 tubes on tank is 4 ft x 20 x 20
