I have been battling hair algae for a couple months now. Basically, target vacuuming up from the rock work, but it is getting out of hand due to high phosphate levels.
so, I started running GFO in a reactor, but now I have cloudy water. Is this normal?Does this eventually run clear?

Please post a photo of your reactor setup and cloudy water.

Post all known parameters as well.

How long have you been running the reactor and how long until you noticed the water cloudy?

Are you running a skimmer?

Only 1 day, so far
I run my skimmer dry, with a heavy load
I am going to test the phosphates and nitrates when I get home.

Yeah, I’ve been manually removing as much as I can! Multiple water changes, as well as syphoning from the rocks into a separate filter sock, repeatedly…..for weeks!!! That’s why I am turning to GFO

I’ve had problems in the past with Cyano in the past, and it’s never been as bad as this hair algae!
