My hammer coral wasn’t coming out on one the heads like normal so I dipped it and now with it receded there’s a piece of the flesh blowing in the current I wasn’t sure if that piece was dead and going to hurt the rest of the coral or what was going on?

Could be going through polyp bailout, or bjd early stage. If you wake up and it's gone tomorrow, looking gooy, it's bjd. What's parameters?

How long have you had it? If it's been happy and you haven't seen pests, you may have agitated it more with a dip.
Agreed with post above regarding posting your parameters and tank info.

We'll try to help you determine why!

it doesn't look very good. if you can share more details about your tank - tank age, parameters, lighting, flow - folks can help you.
