Hi guys! I bought a Hammer Coral that was thriving for weeks and even growing new heads. Today I noticed though, that it seems off. I know it’s night time and it’s closing up for awhile but it has never looked like this. I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out why? All of my other SPS and LPS corals are THRIVING. My parameters have been extremely consistent and (I thought at least) meeting the needs of all other life in my tank. This one is sitting about 1/2 the way up of a 16gal biocube. Any advice or suggestions would be great! I can give more exact parameters for anyone wondering!

Await and see how it is acting in full light

Hi! It’s still about the same, opening up slightly more in the daylight. I’ve been testing and testing the water/parameters and everything seems great, alkalinity very slightly low? Is there any advice or anything you know of that I could use/look into to further? I’ve been using SJ Wave testing strips of that helps at all!

Testing strips is not a good way of testing aquarium water. Get a drop based saltwater alkalinity test - as an example - Saliferts KH-test. - however I do not think that water chemistry is the problem - especially if other corals doing fine.

Look up for brown jelly in or on the coral. If you get this - its probably gone and its best to take it out. IMO - its not much more you can do than wait it out. Euphyllia can be tricky some times

Sincerely Lasse
