I have had a hammer coral for approximately a month. He recently started doing this thing where he sits wide open, showing his mouth and stretching out his arms. Is this normal? Parameters are good, nothing far from “normal parameters” and have been feeding mysis shrimp 2 to 3 times a week. Today is the first day I went to feed the coral and it did not seem interested in the food at all, just let it bounce right off of its mouth. Bad photos for reference, and 5 minutes before typing this they’re more open than the photo

Perfectly normal, looks like you have a frogspawn (euphyllia paradivisa).
+1 the coral probably just wasn’t in the mood for mysis today. I actually have that variation of frogspawn. They’re really pretty when they get big!

Awesome! Thank you all so much!

Definitely a frogspawn and euphyllia are hard to feed as a rule, mine seem to prefer targeted reefroids over the frozen fish food.
Really? Mine eat everything. Like pigs. Pellets, mysis, brine, reef roids, krill, phyto... I’ve. Never seen them reject anything.
