My hammer coral has been retracted for almost 2 weeks now. He will open up a little bit but only at night. I had a bad cyano breakout for a little bit. Did 3 days with the lights out except for an hour or 2 a day. That was a week ago and he is still closed. My nitrates are at about 10.

  • Lower the hammer or reduce light intensity
  • Make the flow gentler and indirect
  • Run fresh carbon
  • Check phosphate
  • Keep parameters stable for 1–2 weeks (don’t chase numbers)
