Hammer coral

My hammer coral has been retracted for almost 2 weeks now. He will open up a little bit but only at night. I had a bad cyano breakout for a little bit. Did 3 days with the lights out except for an hour or 2 a day. That was a week ago and he is still closed. My nitrates are at about 10.

I hate to break this to you, but this coral is like 90% dead. I would personally say too far to save.

I’m not saying you’re wrong but it just wouldn’t make sense to me. It has been super vibrant and doing great up until 2 weeks ago.

I’ve never personally done a blackout, but three days straight seems like a long time. I’ve seen corals go from fully extended to just skeleton in 24 hours, they can die fast. What are your other parameters?

Yikes. I really hope he isn’t dead. I’m 0 on nitrite and ammonia. I haven’t tested my calcium but I don’t think that would cause it to die even if it was a little low

I wanted to add one more thing. My hammer coral is still mostly closed during the day but this is what it looks like at night time about 1 hr after lights out
