Hammer not growing

I got a frogspawn and a hammer of about the same size well over a year ago. The frogspawn is going gangbusters. The hammer hasn't grown a centimeter. They're a few inches away from each other, so I think they have pretty similar conditions. What gives?

Hammer: (started with two heads. Broke in half and I put them on either side of the gap:

I have no answer for you but just the fact that it’s still alive, I would be happy. Pretty sure there are reefers agree with me on this one lol

Maybe they are competing for food? Do you spot feed them?

Sorry, I know the pics are crap.
I also started feeding my hammer some small pieces of cut up clam meat twice a week and it started growing like crazy.
