Hammer Splitting?

I have noticed over the past few weeks that when my hammer closes up at night it separates.
Is it trying to split?

That's what it looks like. We had branching frogspawn and the heads would split like that and form another.

That's what I was thinking. Both heads are doing that.

Could well be splitting
I'v a few hammers and frogspawn that split and also bud , have a look around the stem or branch ..whatever it's called and you might see baby new heads
I'v tried to take a pic for you but it's lights out at the min but you can sort of see the new heads forming
I'v taken Terrible pictures ...lol
