Hey I just picked up this fixture anyone know if it would be safe to use toggle bolts to mount onto the ceiling.
I’ve had my leds on the ceiling on the joist, but to have x18 centered above the tank I have to mount it about 2 inches away from the joist, the joist run parallel to the aquarium. I know it says 106lbs I figured that would be for a wall compared to hanging from a ceiling . The x18 weights 20lbs plus my 3 vipraspectras are about 30lbs. Anyone hang their lights with these?

IMHO it should be OK. Especially if it's close to a joist there the drywall is attached to the joist.

Ended up using those for the 61” and some toggle bolts rated for 50lbs for the 3 viparspectra I didn’t really trust all the weight just on the 2 for the t5 fixture even tho I put some weight to it and it held good. Wish it was just the two for a cleaner look but rather it be up there safelywhat anchor did you end up going with? I am also preparing to install lights and the joist are not helping me lol
