Store the reagent in the fridge and shake before each use.

Here's the correspondence I had with this topic.
Hope it helps

I have had the same issue with the different readings. I am a Hanna dealer and asked my sales rep about it. He said they are not interchangable. So idk what the real answer is, but I stick with the right reagent for each checker. The best way to get the correct one is to order direct from the Hanna Instruments website.

Whoever told you that is wrong.

If it was Hanna, please let me know their by name by PM so I can discuss direct with Hanna management.

Where does it say the bottles have to be refrigerated?
I think some people may have had better results refrigerating the reagent, and it is not a requirement. I don't myself, but I do swirl the reagent to gently mix it prior to each use. I try not to foam it up with air. I usually get consistent results using the correct reagent. Is it because of swirling, idk, but just a habit of mine.

Ahh ok, I give the bottle a swirl also before use.

Hate to revive an old thread but I’ve spent the last several days trying to understand why my Alk was low and came to find out that my new 772 reagent that was reading 7.4 dKH is different than the reading from the 755 reagent I’ve been using previously that was reading 8.4 dKH.

I just tested them side by side and got different readings.

I’m confused because Hanna says both can be used interchangeably but I’m very clearly getting different results.

Has anyone figured out why these reportedly interchangeable reagents can output such different results?

There is no reason apart from possibly batch variation of the reagents.
The reagents are exactly the same composition.

Your example is a bit extreme but I've seen up to 0.7dkH variation between batches of reagents.

One of the reasons I switched back to Salifert is that they are much more consistent.

Hey guys, just bought a few bottles yesterday from Amazon. Wasn’t sure what version I got so Inhad to check to make sure it’s the 772-26. I believe for what I read from AI was the other one is made for freshwater. But that’s coming from AI and not the source.
