So I bought 4 boxes of the Hanna alkalinity reagent in the recent sale. They expire June/2025. I contacted seller, and they made things right and even let me keep the product.

I still want to make the most of them though, so I'm wondering if they'll still be good for a little while past expiration? I normally use a box every 2 months, so I'll only finish one box before expiration.

They shouldn't be a problem

Had one few months expired, was about 7dkh off!!
Good thing i had the kh keeper so the difference between them triggered me.
Bought a new reagent and the test was good ( kh keeper was right)
So wouldn't recommend using expired reagents

Hanna Alk reagent is not particularly stable..

You could test against a known good test like Salifert, but once opened it may deteriorate quickly.

Given the unknowns I'd probably not risk an expensive tank to potentially bad reagents

Expiration dates don't always mean much with chemicals

But they do with Hanna alk checker reagent.

I was getting some bonkers readings until I noticed my solution had expired by a few months - got some new solution and everything was much more accurate.

My last 2 reagents tested higher by 1 dkh when there was 3-4 tests left. I use 1 bottle every 3 weeks.
I use Salifert and Redsea to confirm.
Just finished another and it was not off this time.
The other 2 had floaters so that may have been an issue.
They were new with 26 expiration dates.

Alk reagent is terrible because it will show the ALK as waaaaay too low.

Few years back I kept adjusting for low ALK only to realize my tests were off. By the time I realized the reagent has expired I adjusted to 11 - ouch!

Interesting! Mine was the opposite. It showed 1dkh higher than it was.
I trust Salifert more but Hanna is quicker.
