Hanna Hi702 Copper Checker Error?

So the last few months I've seen less & less PE on my SPS and a lot less growth. Not knowing what was going on, I finally decided to do a bunch of investigating & testing. No busted magnets, everything tested out normal or in range except....

My tank tested positive for Copper! Using the Hanna Hi702 checker, it read .15 (reagent expires 2025). Now I know that isn't a ton, but I'm sure it is enough to throw my SPS off. So I tested my RODI - 0. I tested my other tanks, and all 4 of them read some level of copper from .07 - .15.

So I add some TM Pro Reef Salt to the same batch of water that tested 0, and it tested .20!!! 1.025 salinity. Fearing the salt was contaminated I ran a different test on a batch of water using Fritz Pro Reef & it tested .14 @ 1.026 salinity & .76 @ 1.041 salinity (knew this was going to be way off as the reagent didn't fully dissolve in that much salt)

After letting the new salt water sit for several days I tested it again. TM pro came up us .01 & Fritz came us as .02.

How is any of this possible?

So right now I'm very confused & concerned and ordering ICP tests since I don't trust my Hanna.

I've seen similar strange results in my Cu readings recently, and I haven't been able to understand the source of the problem yet.
 
Estou enfrentando o mesmo problema aqui, usei os lotes H027 e H028 para testar.
No primeiro teste (com reagente H027) usando a amostra do aquário, o resultado foi de 0,16 ppm, suspeitei então do reservatório de substituição, fiz o teste e mostrei 0,02 ppm. Executei o teste no RODI e o resultado foi 0,00 ppm.
Repeti os testes com o reagente H028 e o resultado com a amostra de água do aquário foi de 0,02 ppm. No reservatório de substituição 0,01 ppm. E no RODI 0,00 ppm
Em um novo teste com o reagente H027, o resultado com a amostra do aquário foi de 0,21 ppm e com o reagente H028 foi de 0,16 ppm.
Estou muito confuso.

I am facing the same problem here, I used batches H027 and H028 for testing.
In the first test (with reagent H027) using the aquarium sample, the result was 0.16 ppm, so I suspected the replacement tank, ran the test and showed 0.02 ppm. I ran the test on the RODI and the result was 0.00 ppm.

After speaking with Hanna & them telling me their checker performed as it should I determined that this tester really isn't made for saltwater. They wouldn't test my checker with a saltwater solution, only against the solution they use in house. If I checked freshwater, my checker performed as it should.

So that makes me wonder, when I use it for QT how accurate is it really? I have started using other means to check for copper.

FYI, I sent water from both tanks off for ICP tests & both tested negative for copper even though my Hanna says it is there.
