Hard Water Stain Removal

If it's on glass I'd use vinegar and a scrubby pad. It takes some elbow grease and time for the vinegar to work, but it wouldn't harm anything that might live in the tank after.

Distilled white vinegar is a good cleaner and reef safe.
If it is in an empty aquarium, I lay the tank on its side, front or back and lay an old towel or rag soaked in vinegar on the glass so it stays wetted for as long as it takes to dissolve the calcium deposits. If it is a glass tank some stubborn deposits may require scraping with a straigt edge razor blade but do not scrape on an acrylic tank except possibly with an old plactic credit card edge.
Rinse with water and it should be as good as new.

It will scratch the glass if you are not careful. Stick with vinegar and soaking with as little scraping as possible.

Anyone know a way to remove hard water stains that is safe for a future reef tank??
Is there anyway to remove white scale caused by seachem 8.3 from an acrylic tank without draining it? please email [email protected]

i get straight line deposits at the water level line in my DT and use straight razor blades at a 45 degree angle every so often to remove them. works perfectly with no scratches.
