Hardiest Acro in the Game

I've always thought Red Planet was one of the most underrated corals. Awesome color, solid grower and one of the hardier corals in the hobby. After recently, I would say maybe the hardiest acro I've come across, at least for my personal systems.

I have a fish only tank. Parameters are all over the place, pretty much anything stony dies in the tank. About 3 months ago a threw in a frag of Red Planet I had to spare to see what would happen.
Here's the frag today. As you can see, not the healthiest of tanks. But, this Red Planet is seemingly thriving in these conditions. Colors are not there quite yet. Somehow the health of this coral is surprisingly good.. Makes me wonder what's different about this piece that allows it to grow in a far less than ideal environment.

Agree on red planet durability.

I think it is one of the “dirty water” thriving species. It does better with higher nutrient levels than many other sps.

And it is stunning too.

Yes, it's FOWLR but I do have some soft corals and random montis. This is the only acro in the tank. ATI T5 Sunpower I think its the biggest fixture they make.

I don't know but lets repopulate the diminishing reefs with this species :)

Just about any stag would get my vote - A. Cervicornis. A. Yongei would be second - Green Slimer is as easy as it gets, but purple and blue are a bit harder that drive the slimer family down in Aggregate.

In my experience Valida has been the hardiest. It’s still my favorite Acro.

If you are an acro addict? All sps are easy. Hard to say. Miyagi tort grows strong no matter what.

SC Orange passion is pretty bullet proof. Same with PC rainbow.

Pink Lemonade has been through 7 years worth of tank crashes for me. Only SPS to last through every one of them.

Tri-color valida seem to be the most hardiest i've seen. but anything thats been aquacultured for 10+ years tend to hold up well even in newer systems. Thats why all new acro heads should go after red planets, pink lemonades, efflos, paletta pink tips, green slimers.. All these managed to hold on for life even after being adding to a 3month old tank started with dry rock.. They may not take off until the tank is biologically stable but as long as Alk is monitored frequently and you slowly acclimate them to your lighting they will do fine.
