Has anyone successfully kept a Flame Scallop?

Same as others.. had a few flames and an electric scallop. All zipped to corners under the rock in the back. It was a pain to target feed back there. After about six months, they were gone. I presumed that they became crab snacks.
Stunning creatures but my lack of success has definitely kept me from trying a clam.

I’ve had mine for lil over a year. Likes to move around back under the rocks. Every now and then I’ll see him.

I’ve got one in my tank seems to be happy for now. Same thing, under my rocks at the back of the tank. Can only see him if I use a flashlight.

I can assure you that it it slowly dying from starvation.

I was in the aquatic industry for many years and these creatures just do not live in aquariums and really do slowly starve to death, despite anecdotal information to the contrary. I post this article whenever the topic come up, in the hope that hobbyists will believe the author, rather than some stiff like me.

I recently found one hidden in my live rock that has to have been there for 9 months. Obviously never been target fed. I don’t really add coral foods regularly either.

Seems like there is some consistency in reports of those that are successful. Good Flow and shady places for them to hide in (under rocks). I wonder if they are on to something.

From what I know (and the couple I had in the past— both short-lived), 9 months by doing ‘nothing’ is as good or better success than most people have trying to do ‘something.’ Lol!! :)

I’ve also gone from about handful of little jewelbox clams to about 20 or more spread around the tank. If they’re reproducing I’d imagine there’s some sort of naturally occurring planktonic food that I’m getting lucky with.
