Im looking for a good pre filter material that won't clog but will trap most of the particles before reaching my skimmer and marinepur plates. I've found these Matala foam sheets and were thinking about using them. They come in 4 grades. Super low density, low density, high density, and super high density. They are meant for pond and mostly outdoor filtration use but was wondering if anyone has used it in their baffles. My baffles are 1.5" and so is this filter foam. Seams like a match to me but was just wondering if someone had experience with it.

Since I won't be filtering leaves and twigs I figure I won't need the super low density.

Here is what I had in mind:
First section of the baffle-blue high density
Second section of the baffle- grey super high density.

Ok, just finished watching that and I think they just showed me a way to use my current sump setup and have a refugium that I didn't think was possible.

I like how they used the super low density as a barrier "fence" but what about using the finer stuff for trapping some of the floating particulate to keep it from clogging up the marinepur plates..

Thanks for sharing that. I hadn't come across that one before. @jjflounder1
