So a month or so ago I recently made a durso standpipe to silence the noise of the water drop. And it works amazing :) but I've recently noticed that there's now quite a bit of algae growing there in the overflow. .. and I don't want it to seed into my main tank or sump. Do I clean other out? Put snails on there? Or just leave it ?

I use a toothbrush on mine to pull any algae out.
The nice thing about an overflow that you can redirect into a bucket is that you can use h2o2 within the overflow, let it sit then drain into a bucket.
That kills the algae within the overflow
