Ok so it seems as if neither of my bottles say that. For the phosphate instructions, it says apply neophos as directed below to attain a minimum phosphate concentration of ~0.02 ppm. DO NOT EXCEED 0.04 PPM! Multiply tank captaincy (33 gal) by ppm increase by 3.785 = ml of product to use. It then goes on to stay stuff about reef biofuel and how to use it. For nitrate bottle, it says apply neonitro as directed below to attain an ultimate nitrate concentration of ~3 ppm, do not increase more than .5 ppm per day. Multiply tank capacity by desired increase by .1261 = ml added. It then does on to talk about reef biofuel and katalyst
Interesting....I guess that's why they give that heads up on the web instructions.
Well, if you're at 0.0 ppm PO4 and you're aiming for 0.10 ppm, then I guess the math is 33 * 0.1 * 3.785 = 12.49 mL....round up to 13 (or 15 if you're doing capfuls....one cap often equals 5mL.)
If you're starting from 0 ppm NO4 then I guess it's 33 * 5 * .1261 = 20.8 mL....round up to 21 (or up to 25 if you're doing capfuls.)
Also I agree with high nutrients can cause great coral growth because I used to have it for the longest time, phosphates were at ~2 ppm and nitrates ~30 ppm. I was able to fix the phosphate problem because it was my Rodi system so I basically had to replace all the components of it to fix it. So now I have low nutrients, which is not what I was aiming for.
Also interesting. If you measure PO4 in your untreated tap water (after letting it run several minute) what do you get?
