Something that amazes me is how truly smart fish can be. How they know when we come close to the tank and give them food, or how they know not to mess with certain corals in your tank. When was a time you were surprised by your livestock's intelligence?

My cagey checkerboard wrasse that would not enter any trap. No matter how tempting the bait. It would circle the trap and hover at the entrance.

Were you eventually able to trap it? or were you trying to trap something else?

I was trying to trap the wrasse. I finally did catch it. I had to stop feeding pellets and nori and make fresh shellfish in the trap the only food for the tank. After that drastic move, it took a month or so. I lost a couple gobies to the wrasse and a couple more to starvation but I had to get the wrasse. What a little jerk of a fish!

The fish in the 1200 gal at my lfs all swim to the front when they see the owner walk to the fridge, they just know.

Crazy it took almost a month for you to get that one fish

Dragon wrasse are evil but also shockingly intelligent. Pick up a rock and they will happily come investigate and ask you for more help looking for food!
Here's me playing with one!

Yep. When I set my powerheads feed mode, I also changed the light setting as a way to verify I actually turned the powerheads off. Within about a week, every fish in the tank, as well as the cleaner shrimp make a beeline to the feeding ring when the lights change.
