Anyone have any experience with Hectors Goby? Curious too if they will bond with a pistol shrimp like other gobies?

Mine is super chill, just grazes around all day filtering sand. Tank mates are 2 clowns, a pink streaked wrasse and a tail spot blenny. It keeps to itself but is very active.

Not sure if your still curious about the hectors but id like to share what mine does and a pitol shrimp I have.

My hectors as mentioned above just swims all day never in one spot, grazes the rock, sand, and glass, Im fighting dinos and the hectors is going to town on the dinos, he eats it up like no tomorrow all day. AMAZING actually hes helping me fight lol.

I picked up a pistol shrimp but I also wanted a fully mixed reef with everything under the son so I knew I needed the red banded pistol, since its super super tiny. I know it wont or cant kill mostly anything, because of it's size.

I am building a tank that will host nothing but tiny fish, nothing bigger than 2.5" and they must all co exist for I want a ton of fish, with a ton of coral.

I picked up a yasha goby about a month ago, little behold after a few weeks , the yasha and pistol found each other and now they live in a burrow infront of the tank (thought the pistol was long gone). The hectors was in the tank the whole time, it never paired but I also didnt expect it to.

I don't have a Hector's but I do have something similar. I got a Court Jester from Biota. Super cool little dude. He eats practically everything, even the pellets that my picky ORA clownfish won't. I didn't expect him to dig as much, but I now have several small piles of sand dotted around. He also picks at rocks and glass. I don't have a pistol shrimp I've thought about getting one. I've read a post where someone had the CJG share a burrow with a pistol but they didn't really pair up, just bunked for the night.

They do not pair with shrimp, but I find them to be great fish. They are relatively chill and not shy - they stick out in the open doing their thing unless clearly threatened, even often when other fish hide, and will clean your sand or eat your hair algae. If you have neither, you probably can't keep it fed, since it will totally ignore any offered food, so I wouldn't try one on a bare bottom.

They will sleep in a hole at night, so make sure there are some vacant spaces and not a ton of fish to sleep in them. I haven't had luck trying to pair them up, but they show some of the chillest aggression of all fish - one will make a pass at the other, then both will stop for a second to have a mouthful of sand, and you probably have weeks of mild aggression with minimal chasing to catch one and put it elsewhere if they need separation.

I fear once the dino is defeated the hectors will starve, it won’t eat anything i toss in the tank. it just picks at the rocks, sand, glass. The amount of dino’s it eats is amazing.

I have a Hector that has paired with my pistol shrimp. I also have a high fin red banded goby that has paired with the other pistol shrimp I purchased together that were already bonded.
