Hi all. My family and i are fairly new to saltwater. I had a freshwater for about 10 years. After a tank crash i made the choice to switch. Been really happy i did, but sooooo....much to learn lol.
My tank:
55 gallon
Marineland 300? canister filter
Aquaflow silent 75 over the side filter
Macro aqua hang on skimmer
5-6 inches live sand / crushed shells bed
40 lbs live rock
1 x tomato clown
1 x engineer goby
1 x pajama cardinal
1x purple pseudo chromis
1x kupang damsel
1x domino damsel
5 x emerald crabs
25 x hermit crabs (red and blue leg)
25 x assorted snails
1 x lettuce nudibranch
1 x sea hare
1 x condylactis anenome
Edit: forgot my diadema long spine urchin
Tank is about 3.5 years old, we have gone through a bunch of crashes and learning and finally have gotten to "somewhat stable" lol
We have been battling a green hair algae outbreak. It got so bad in one section of the tank our tomato clown was hosting it lol.
Finally got it curbed with the emerald crabs/sea hare/lettuce nudibranch help
My modest youtube channel has a bunch of videos of our tank through the time we have been doing this. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCqiiRvN4otAKkNaB599KzUw
Glad to join up. Im sure ill have tons of questions and quite possibly be able to help some people with some of the painful lessons ive learned getting started (see flame scallop video, NOT for newbies) so sad. That was a big learning lesson for me to research first before buying something because it looks cool. These are living creatures and i felt horrible.
Looking forward to talking with you all! Cheers
