Hi Everybody! I just bought a used apex classic but the display is broken, I been researching on how to do the initial setup without the display but there isn't much info that I found, so I tried hooking up the apex to the router then log in into the router to check for the ip address on the apex but my router doesn't show the apex connected to the router tried refreshing it and disconnecting it and no luck. The next thing I read was this 1. Turn off wifi on the laptop.

2. Plug the ethernet from your laptop into your apex

3. Go into network and sharing center and click on your lan connection.

4. Go to properties

5. select iPv4

6. Check static ip and type in 192.168.1.100 for ip and 255.255.255.0 for gateway. Leave all other fields blank.

7. You can now access your apex with no routers or wifi that can corrupt firmware uploads.

So I tried this I'm running windows 8 but I'm stuck in steps 3 and 4 can't seem to find it.
If anybody has an easier way to do this please let me know. Thank you

Yes on the neptune website there is a program ( forget the name of it but download a firmware update ( it's in there) unzip everything and there will be a executable that will go out and find your Apex
It's probably not on the 192.168.1.100
Once it shows you the IP then go and continue doing what you need to do AND update the firmware ( depending on when was the last time it was done)
Also connect to Fusion which is online and then you won't need a display perse

Thank you for the response so you think even if the Apex it's not showing on my router now will that program be able to find it or could be a problem with my router settings that it's not let it communicate with it?

Is it wired or wireless? I have a linksys and not everything shows up on mine either and even some that have been gone are still there
But I would definitely try it
Can you connect wired if you have it on wireless

And your cable company allows you access to it? Mine never did and now I'm on a business cable and it's a pain to get into

I have some advice for new Apex users: print out a hard copy of the entire userguide/manual. IIRC (if I recall correctly) it's about 200 pages and if you can print on both sides of the paper and have it bound at a copy shop you're golden. I refer to my userguide constantly. Also the Neptune Systems community forum is great help.
