Ok, I know we have the reef chemistry calculators, but I'm trying to understand the math myself and was just about pulling out my hair this weekend trying to do this.

So, I'm doing Seachem Reef Fusion 2 for my Alk (something I had in house, so I'm using it up). Anyway, from the bottle, 1ml of dosing provides .176 meq/L of alk per 6.5 gallons.

I have a 92 corner tank, so I calculate for a water volume of 100 gallons.

So:

1. Convert meq/L -> dKH:
Since 1 meq/L = 2.8 dKH
.176 meq/L = .49 dKH

So 1ml of RF2 should raise 6.5 gallons by .49 dKH

2. So if I add 1ml to my 100 gallon system I expect
100 gallons / 6.5 gallons = 15.38 "6.5 gallon units"
.49 dKH/15.38 "6.5 gallon units" = .032 dKH rise, correct?

3. So to raise my 100 gallons by 1 dKH I should dose:
1 dKH/.032 dKH = 31.25 ml ???

Reef calculator says 27.4 ml, so not sure why calculations are different. Am I doing something incorrect?

Thanks,

Coach

I did the math and it looks like all of your math is correct. Which I assume was confirmed already with the calculator linked by Randy (I didn't go to the link).
