Can someone please help me identify what this clear slime that is all over my tank is, and how to get rid of it.

Are you dosing carbon? or running carbon? It might be a bacterial bloom. I would add an airstone right away to make sure there is enough oxygen in the tank while you figure this out.

I would stop the carbon and Nopox immediately. Do as large a water change as you can get done tonight and make some more to do another change tomorrow. Move all fish to a separate tank with fresh water if you have one available.

extra oxygen is a must to save your fish.

Hi! I moved your thread to the reef discussion forum for better views and replies. I agree that that could be a bacteria or even an algae. The rest of the squad should be able to pinpoint that a bit better for you. :)

Yup looks like some stringy bacteria gunk. Is the water cloudy or is it just these stringy bacteria colonies?.

I am running carbon and dosing Nopox

Something similar, but much less dramatic happened to my tank about week 3 into dosing NoPOX.

What I did was.....
1. Stop the NoPox.
2. Skim very wet.
3. Took an MJ1200 and blew that mess off anything I could to get it into the water column while turning my wave pumps off.
4. Used a large fine mesh fishnet and scooped as much as I could out.
5. Repeat steps 3 & 4, later as the density was reduced I turned the wave pumps back on and hung the net in front of one to catch the remaining filaments.
6. 20% water change in the morning and again that afternoon.

Good luck.

I had pretty much the same happen when I used NoPox, it took a couple of weeks to clear up. It was almost like a bloom of some sorts, but went away. Make sure that you are doing the correct amounts. Are you using a doser?

No I'm dosing manually. But I have been using NoPox for about 6 months now and this just happened a few days ago

Bacterial bloom, most likely overdose from Nopox.

I've seen several incidents of these.

Siphon as much as you can, do a big water change. And reduce, or stop Nopox for a while, and make sure you're dosing correct amount of dosage.

I see that you're dosing manually,. could be you double dosed by accident?

I kind of agree with @sil40sx, when I started to auto dose with controlled doses the issue disappeared.

Oh, and when I said double dosed, I meant you accidentally did it twice the same day.

Reason I mentioned that, because it happened to me recently (good thing its Vibrant, and not chemicals),. Usually, I dose at night, but my schedule fell on a weekend so I did it in the morning, but then I had a brain fart at night and instinctively dose another vibrant in my tank after my daily/nightly routine. LOL
