I just purchased two DoS this weekend...hooked them up and went through the set-up and have the DoS interact with the Trident to use the testing outcome to adjust the dosing levels. My question is, I thought IF a predefined ALK level (8.30 dkh) (for example) is set up in the DoS, then the DoS will use that 8.30 and will ONLY dose no more than 20% +- in each direction and anything after that the DoS will NOT dose until it falls below the predefined threshold of either 8.10 or 8.50? With my current setup, I keep getting alarms and my DoS keeps dosing during the times I have it setup to dose. In other words, the doser didn't stop once it when it went above 8.51 dHk....How can I fix this or what am I getting wrong with this current setup?

The DOS will go back to your fallback "normal" dosing amount if tests are out of range. It will never just stop cold turkey- otherwise, if the trident gets a bad reading it could harm the tank. Safety feature.

It is up to you to know more or less a standard dosing amount that keeps your alkalinity stable. You need this number before you enable trident adjusted dosing, which can only deviate 20% from said value.

Personally I would go back to a standard dosing schedule until you are able to keep your alkalinity relatively stable. Then, with that daily volume known, you can enable trident adjusted dosing.

(Or, you could just run the trident dosing task again with a reduced "normal" dosing volume).

I would let the Trident run for a few weeks with your standard dosing before you let the DOS take over on it’s own. Learn how it reacts to your tank before letting the Apex take over. That way if something goes wrong you can take over quickly and fix it.

Well said...I will follow that guidance. I switched from a Kamorea F4 Pro to the DoS this weekend. I had the Trident for over a year now, my normal values for ALK is around 8.30...

Yeah...thats a good idea...I made the mistake by thinking the Komera F4 Pro dosing and DoS were almost identical in dosing...obviously not...But great point and I will definitely incorporate them
