Hi! An entire plug of 7 little zoas have disappeared, there’s not a shred of them left.

I have a 20 gallon and I’ve been watching it closely, I haven’t seen any pests, but my zoas were open and beautiful at 1 am. Gone by 7 am.

I have a pithos crab
Pike streaked wrasse
2 clowns
Nass snails
Ceriths
And a single dove snail.

Im distraught. If any of my designer zoas go missing, so help me.

My money is on the crab.

Pitho crabs will sometimes snip at corals
To decorate themselves and can mow some down sometimes. I had one do it with Xenia and Anthelia and it would have Xenia pieces pulsing on its back.

It does have some weird brown chunk of something on its back now. I try to feed it! Ugh what a brat

Either you have a hidden predator or either you’re crab (most likely) or a clown killed it. Crabs will be crabs, and that’s most noticeable when frags and few and far between. And occasionally clowns go rogue and will decimate a frag for reasons known only to them. I’m betting the “with caution” crab is the offender, if you don’t have another pest hiding in the tank though.
