Help I.D. my clown.

Disclaimer: 4 months into my first SW/REEF tank.

It seems this happens a lot. I got this clown from my LFS (normally they seem to be on the spot) and the tank was labeled Picasso clown. But I don’t think it is. I have stared at this thing down to count its dorsal fin. I keep getting 9. Just thought I would throw it out here to get other people’s thoughts.

I would like to get another one, smaller of course and the right species.

I’m no expert but it seems to be a dodgy Picasso but a Picasso to me

Thank you for looking! When I got it I was curious because even lower grade Picasso’s I have seen have a lot more white. I just want to be sure. I sure do like this little fish and want to get it a potential partner.

That is an Ocellaris clown. It is the clown on which the Nemo character is based in the animated film "Finding Nemo".

Not Ocellaris, but Percula. You can call it a Picasso, as I am guessing that one or both of the parents are Picasso, but technically I don't think it qualifies because the bars look too standard. Nice fish either way. I expect the tail stripe to fully connect and the black between the stripes to darken as the fish gets bigger.

Thanks for your response. I enjoy this fish, I just want to get it a partner and not buy the wrong species. It really wants a partner because it’s trying to swim with my goby.
