Help! I used Gorilla Max Strength Clear Construction adhesive

At the moment I’m setting up a 250gal tank and I had bought it from someone else, so I decided to reseal it, I used gorilla Mac strength construction adhesive thinking it was silicone safe for aquariums. I also used it to aquascape and glue rocks, right now the tank is completely empty and filling with Rodi water. But the thing is, I have a nano tank, which had two gobies and two nano clownfish, I recently introduced a tiny hippo tang and a tiny horseshoe crab, which did fine for the first night, following day I fragged a piece of my GSP and used that glue, now this morning both of my nano clowns and hippo tang are dead, with the gobbies acting funny, all my parameters are normal, I did feed them more than usual but I don’t believe there was an ammonia spike during the night. All my inverts seem to be doing good. Guys please help

The empty tank did cure for more than 48hrs outside and the rocks are still curing but with the frag piece was only a couple of minute with just a small dab. I don’t know what killed my tang and clowns possibly goby’s too

I have found gorilla adhesive to be atleast freshwater plant safe(not sure about coral) but is only the case if I let the glue sit for over a month with good ventilation after applying. Sorry if I'm not much help, but that's all I can give you is my own experience with it. I wish you luck!

I feel sad for the loss of my nano, but I hope the adhesive is not the problem and that the hippo just came with a disease because it will cost hundreds to replace the new tank and aquascape

I appreciate the help, I hope with the ventilation it’s not toxic, I’m hoping it’s just that I immediately put the adhesive in the water and that’s what’s causing everything

Did you have fish with your freshwater plants?

I don't believe Gorilla glue is reef tank safe. It is probably leeching chemicals into the water. I don't know that any amount of water changes will resolve the issue as the adhesive will continue to leech after the water change.

Two different "glue"....The one in the link is "super glue - AKA cyanoacrylate" The one OP used is an adhesive with different chems.....

Gorilla glue is safe. I’ve used it. It’s ethyl cyanoacrylate. Not sure about Gorilla Glue construction adhesive. Doubt it’s the same ingredients.

I believe the above thread is referring to their super glue which I've used numerous times with no problem. The OP used construction adhesive. I don't think it's the same ingredients.

How did you reseal the tank with construction adhesive? To correctly reseal a tank requires separating the panes and cleaning them reassembling with silicone. If you didn't seperate the panes you didn't actually reseal it even if you had used silicone.

Did you have fish with your freshwater plants?

Unfortunately, no I did not keep fish in the tanks I used gorilla glue BUT, I did keep shrimp, and snails and they did great.

This mostly applies for during the curing process, as while it is in its liquid-"semi-solid" state, it releases hellish chemicals.

Gorilla super glue is completely different than Gorilla construction adhesive. It’s like saying a Camaro and a Silverado are the same because they’re both made by Chevrolet.

I’d imagine that construction adhesive of any sort has no business anywhere near the inside of an aquarium.

Personal there's no way I would use this tank as is. You will never know if future problems are caused by the sealant. Having worked with construction adhesive before I see no way you're going to get this off the glass without destroying the original silicone seal. Maybe you can tear the tank apart remove all the glass and do a proper reseal.

I have an unpopular opinion, all I did was put construction adhesive ontop of the silicon seal, I really don’t have the funds to have someone reseal my tank or the trust for me to do a 250gal. What if I use aquarium safe black silicone to cover that layer of construction adhesive, I really don’t mind the black outline it’s gonna have. It will keep the original seal, and hopefully cover the construction adhesive completely if not greatly reduce the exposure to the water. I believe it was the fumes of the curing construction adhesive that nuked the nano tank, if it even was that. I still have the adhesive piece I used in there and the goby’s are doing good, all inverts/corals are doing fine. Maybe the introduction of the hippo to the nano caused their death with possibly disease overnight
