Hi, I got back home from work and saw these on my blue tang. I don’t know if there’s something happened to my blue tang. Yesterday it’s still eating well acting well. I didn’t know how the tang was doing because my light was on at 2PM and I left for work before that. But when I got home I saw the blue tang once and it went straight to its cave which is its home and never seen it came back out. I did catch the tang out of DT and saw something odd on its body but couldn’t identify what’s that. Here are some pictures. I know it’s not best quality but I will take it back tomorrow. I did transfer it to QT just for sure. Please identify the thing on its body for me. I know that it has HLLE by my stupid mistake. Pictures taken below when the tang is sleeping

Please in the future post pics in the water using bright white light intensity, rather than fish out of water. These fish are susceptible to mucus cones often from a skin irritation and at times are mixed in with ich and Often you will notice other occupants show no signs but recommended is to remove all fish and treat them as well using coppersafe or copper power for a full 30 days at 2.25ppm which they respond to well and add an air stone and monitor copper level with a reliable Copper Test kit such as Hanna Brand- No API brand. Also monitor Ammonia levels while in quarantine with a reliable test kit and add aeration during treatment using an air stone.

In the first picture, the spots look almost like marine ich, Cryptocaryon. I don't see the same spots in the second picture though. Are those what you are describing as being the issue?

How does the fish look now?

Why are there Salt Particles floating around in your Tank? That should not be the case. Saltwater should be mixed thoroughly before use. I don't really see anything wrong except all that particulate matter floating around in your Tank. As far as HLLE, I am not convinced he has HLLE as it doesn't usually appear like that.

Hard tell if fish has anything with floating items in tank

Also, I kinda see my tang is rapidly breathing but it’s still swimming fine. I don’t know if it is ich or velvet

The spots on the tang is marine ich. However, that doesn’t cause rapid breathing until the infection gets much worse, so there could be a second issue.

All exposed fish are going to need to be treated. Coppersafe or copper power at 2.25 ppm is best, in a tank with no invertebrates of course.

So what is your thoughts on the second issue? What could it be an issue?

The rapid breathing could be velvet (copper will take care of that) water quality (but that would affect other animals in the same water) or gill flukes. If you see the fish trying to scratch on things AND breathing rapidly, you should treat with praziquantel at the same time as the copper. This is a bit riskier than copper alone, so if the symptoms are minor, you could try waiting until after the copper to dose the prazi.

But the thing is the tank that the blue hippo in right now. I just finished the 2 prazipro treatment as 7 days apart. Did everything as instructed like water changed and everything but couldn’t make my blue Atlantic tang alive. The treatment was done 7 days ago. Is it ok if I continue to use prazipro again?

Yes, a third prazi dose is usually needed to fully stop a fluke infection.

I just noticed that my blue hippo tang started dart to pvc pipe. What it could be? Ich or flukes?

If it was ich, you'd see pinhead white spots. It could still be flukes, or it could be skin irritation from where flukes had been living. Fish will also scratch if there are particles in the water that stick to their skin.
