I was snorkeling in the Gulf of Mexico in Tampa Bay and found a small fish, he has what looks like a chin whisker, he is black and white/grey striped and turns black when upset. He is a bottom dwelling fish, his mouth is on the bottom, and has a white underside. I do have some pictures attached but none are when he is black. I know that he is not a type of reef fish so I am sorry that I am posting it here, I just do not know where else I could post. Any help would be great! Thank you.

I fish a lot so I might know what it is. Definitely a type of drum. I believe it is most likely a black drum juvenile

With only a single chin barbel and the shape of the dorsal fin .... my guess would be a southern kingfish/whiting?
