What's the best way to get rid of it?

Looks like cyano. Nothing eats it. You can just leave lights off and increase flow to flush out the excess nutrients. If that doesn't work, siphon it out with a hose. Increase flow until it's gone. Do it slowly. It should be easy.

Looks like dinoflagellates to me. Use search for numerous posts on it. Some people have had success treating it... other less so. Some have broken down their systems over it. Hopefully you will have some success.
Treatments that I have read about are:
Getting pH up, using kalk drips for long periods of time. Need to watch your alkalinity using this method.
Lights off periods for days on end, some people acutally wrapped the tanks with garbage bags to block sunlight from windows and lights in the house.
Using Hydrogen Peroxide.
UV Sterilizers hooked to the system.
Ozone generators.
Whatever course of action you choose, siphoning out as much as possible every day is key. Avoid large water changes as many people reporting it made things worse. Do your research before treating either method and make sure you understand the risks.
Incidentally, dinos are toxic to snails and inverts so you will want to house them someplace safe, it may even make grazing fish ill.
