i got this because I thought it was cool, it’s white with a pink irredecent edge. I think it’s a mushroom. Anyone have any idea?

Yea it is, it will get more color once it’s been in light for a bit.

I had something like that when I bought a BTA that was on a rock. I thought it was a baby BTA. Eventually it just disappeared.

Keep in mind for future purchases, not many naturally white corals in nature. It's usually a sign the coral is bleached/bleaching which is bad. Means it's good algae has left the building.

Can you see a mouth? is it squishy? if not than it might be a dead montipora

I purchased from a reputable place, but I just never got the name. I was a total impulse “oh that’s cool” buy.

Yes it’s very meaty and there is a mouth at the center which leads me to believe it’s a mushroom,

I guess so. Just make sure it is not dead. See if it responds when you feed. It should form a funnel like shape

It’s a bleached mushroom. Crazy thing is I have a couple shrooms that bleached on shipping and still have not recovered over a year later. I can’t explain how they have not died.......

For future reference, impulse buys are not a good idea. you should never buy a coral without knowing what it is and what it's requirements are.

Hard to tell honestly my concern would be that whatever it is has been bleached
