I saw this at an aquarium yesterday andI really like it. Unfortunately, the color didn't photo well.

Any idea what this is? I'm new to the hobby obviously, soI'm feel silly if it's a common coral.

Looks to me like a Brown Palythoa mutuki, you’ll likely find your LFS has a couple if they have just a ‘junk’ softie tank :)
I know when I’m at my LFS that handles with softies I always look at their junk tank just to find any treasure. As they say;
A man’s trash is another man’s treasure.
