Help Identifying a Mysterious Creature in My Reef Tank

[ugoreef]

Hello everyone,

I recently noticed a small, unknown creature in my reef tank (6 months old), and I would love your help in identifying it. It has 7 limbs, is fuzzy, and seems to move quite quickly. Its color is brown, and it looks somewhat like a tiny starfish, though it also gives off an impression of resembling a small spider.

I believe it might be a detritivore that was introduced with the live rock. Has anyone encountered something similar in their tanks?

I’ve attached a photo/video for reference. Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

looks like a sea star! not sure what kind though, would it be possible to get more pics like the brighter one? also, do you have any newer coral frags in there? i just got a blasto frag last week and today i discovered 3 brittle stars living inside of it, they living through the initial coral dip and everything!

EDIT: seeing now that they may have come from the live rock, however sea stars love finding shelter in little crevices within frags and it's a great way to have them accidentally introduced into your tank

Hi,

Yes, that seems to be it. The last coral I introduced was an Acropora Lokani. Maybe it was hided in it.

Ooooo nice. Probably not Reef safe, but certainly not certain.
