hi, so bought this used setup with it was 100 lbs of previously dried rock. I have been bleaching for 3 weeks and the rock is still red or purple over most of it. Could this be man made painted rock? Looks like real thing but not like my last tank rock where clearly the real thing. Attached is pictures of rock after the 3week spam in 30 gallons of water with 2gallons of bleach. Or still need to bleach longer with more concentrated bleach.

It does look manmade to me. Notice how there really aren't any small holes going deep into the rock substance? Hard to be certain though.

My vote is painted. There isn’t a coralline algae out there that would still look that good after bleach. I would just start curing it, if it’s real algae it will die off during curing.

Thank you. I think it is Caribsea liferock. (Man made) after looking at pictures of it. I really wanted natural but I don’t see any real bad reviews of it . I will still probably get some natural pieces at lfs. If anyone knows of any problems or bad affects of bleaching man made rock especially since the Caribsea liferock description says it is painted with seeded spores of bacteria let me know. Otherwise I am just going to start curing now.
