Friends, you may have heard that local Hampton Roads aquarist Josh Grisoli’s wife, Jennifer, was recently diagnosed with leukemia, a common form of blood cancer. She is currently undergoing treatment and is expected to make a full recovery. While encouraging, she has a long road ahead of her this coming year. Josh was an instrumental part of MAMAX this year and we are shocked to hear of the news.

Let’s help Josh and his family ensure they have an amazing holiday and that they have the financial means to get the treatments and medications she’ll need in 2016. We are all friends because of this hobby and without each other we wouldn’t be where we are today.

Skip lunch one day or pass on that $5 frag you heard about and let’s make sure that Jen can enjoy her family and her aquarium for years to come!

An amazing thing your doing here, lost my grandfather to this last year and the victims only seem to get younger.

She's going to rock this year and live like every day is her last, love and positive thoughts to her, her husband, and most of all the little one!

Was it caught early?

Yes she has 1 week of steady treatment and then a year plus of meds. She's expected to make it. I just want to help with their on going bills and travel expenses etc.

Well good thing it's not too serious

Just a point of view, but not too serious? You must have misspoke. Let me put it in perspective. The medication alone is $200-300 per month. Add that to $7-8000k in average medical expenses, specialist, and someone who is just getting by is now thinking about keeping the lights on or food on the table. Christmas is out of the question. Work for many during the worst of the stages is almost impossible and the likelihood that she even has good insurance or disability working at an LFS is doubtful. Many of have endured hard times, but few understand. There are hard times, but when your sick everyday throwing up, diarrhea, and pain all over your body plus you don't have the energy to get out of bed it puts things in perspective. You must have not realized what you just said. Thinking she will be cured and life resumes not problem, right. Not too serious is an insult to what she has and will have to endure. Imagine you are diagnosed with cancer and someone says to you, "well good thing its not too serious"! She will be tested and retested hopeful she doesn't have it return even more serious and possibly incurable the next go around. Over 60% endure secondary cancers within five years.

My son fought a battle with Hodgkin's Lymphoma last year! He is now cancer free and we pray every day that he stays that way! Praying for her and her family, they have a very rough road ahead of them!
