Hello.
I have a space in my tank that I would like to fill with a coral. And I need your help to choose it.
You can see from the first photo the overall tank and where this coral would be positioned. In the second photo you can see more detail of the space I want to fill.

In red is where I’m going to add a little bit more flow I’m actually adding a max spect 350 gyre to my overflow to give me a little bit more flow in this general area that has a lot of of SPS.
You can see in purple, the shelf where I want to place a coral, and you can see in yellow an acro that is growing above that area.

Par is around about 200 in that zone and I need help choosing a coral.

I’d like something a bit wavy, with tentacles, but I think most things would sting the acro.
Have you got any ideas?

Thanks!

would you like Duncan's? with low to moderate flow they provide nice sway and movement, you could also try a cristata torch as they are short stubbier heads than normal torches

Duncan could do well. I have one in another part of the tank. Looking for something more colourful or interesting, but I think I’ll keep Duncan as a plan B.

its very hard as you already know with the acro right there but maybe something like an octospawn or a frogspawn could work? if you want a torch your best chance as I mentioned would be with a cristata, but another coral that comes to mind is a weeping willow leather

If you could manipulate the flow to blow away from that acro you could probably do a torch

So, Duncan's and euphyllia as options so far. Any more ideas out there? How about Alveopora - do they sting Acros? Gonis, I wouldn't try, but alveopora, I'm not sure.

Frogspawn polyps might get really long (easily more then 2inches), depending on the PAR. They stinged my catalaphylia when I least expected it. Cristata is the perfect choice here imho. A hammer (paraancora) will have shorter polyps then Cristata, but without that wavy vibe.

Honestly alveopora completely slipped my mind but unfortunately alveopora can pack a pretty good sting and extends too far
