Hey everyone! Trying to decide where I want to put my Eshopps M180 and need some advice/suggestions. I have two options right now, my back room/office or my front room. Both rooms have the same dimensions and will post pictures of both rooms. Whatever room I put the tank in I’m planning on having my computer and stuff in there as that will be where I spend most of my time at home.

Back room/current office area:

Pros:
-Room stays cooler in the summer months
-Easier to run new electric circuit as well as any cabling or tubing for AWC
-Close a bathroom for manual water changes

Cons:
-If I ever move it would be a pain to get the tank out of that room
-Would be not as easy to wheel cans in/out for water changes or maintenance (more of an exaggeration)

Front room (white table has same foot print as the new tank):

Pros:
-Entry to the room is very open and would be easy to roll stuff in/out for maintenance
-Can see the tank from my kitchen, I don’t spend a whole lot of time in there though
-Placing the tank would be really easy: room is right next to my front door. Same for if I ever moved

Cons:
-In summertime it’s the warmest room in the house
-Running electric, cables and tubing for awc would be an absolute pain

While I like the front room, I am kind of leaning for the back room where the stand is already. But any input is appreciated!

In either arrangement, can you make it so the tank is not to your back? I can hardly get a single bit of work done whenever I get tempted to turn around constantly to view my tank. Minutes turn into hours daydreaming. I find that if my desk/chair is where I can see the tank, it's easier to
Just glance up now and then and continue working. ✌🏻😉

Is either wall load bearing? At 180 gallons you will have structural concerns. So the direction of the joists and proximity to the foundation will matter.
Forgot to mention it’s a concrete slab, so hopefully should be fine in either room 🙏

I’m debating on getting a different desk, one that’s not a corner desk so it will be easier to look at the tank!

I like the feel and ambiance of the front room better but I think you need to go with what’s more convenient for you. On the other hand, once the wiring is done, it’s done.

Only thing is if you need to cool the tank in summer in that front room, for me that would be a no go.

That is true about the wiring. And temperature wise, that room and window gets all of the afternoon sun so I would definitely put a ceiling fan in there to help the air circulate better. If I am gaming on my pc, it too can add a couple of degrees to the room as well. I was/am hoping that the larger entryway to that front room would help dissipate the heat better than my back room would. Maybe could add a blackout shade to that window too if it those help block the heat from coming.

Good points for the front room then ! I hope you update us. 😊

So I’ve decided on the front room area for the tank. I’m also considering in front of the window. I would definitely put a blackout shade on the window and possibly put curtains up that are the length of the tank, I think that might actually look nice. Also if the tank is in front of the window I would be able to see most of it from my living room while watching tv.

What do y’all think?

Can you update a photo of your final decision-- I think I'm lost. Lol. But if you can live with a window blacked-out/curtained, no problem there; I assume you will be painting the back of the tank as well, or using vinyl. 😎

I will second the corner desk! I personally have a corner desk and love mine!

Sorry lol sometimes things sound better in my head than they do written out... but here are some pics, after putting the stand in front of the window I don't think I like it that much.

The only thing I like is that here is my view from my couch in the living room...

Here are the other two options, which give me better placement for my desk:

And this is where I was originally going to put it, and most likely will keep it at this point.

Don't mind the love seat, its just there because I don't have a better spot for it right now.

Yeah.. I think I’m going to put it on the wall opposite of the window, it gives me more options for my desk and other things

If you get it all set up and running and decide you don't like where it is, you can always change it. "Not!" 🤪

Have you tried it at an angle next to the wall and window ? I have my tank at an angle, with enough room to go behind. It’s amazing the amount of stuff I have plugged in the back. Very convenient.

You could also watch of when watching tv and there wouldn’t be as much direct light on it.
