With the cost of my new tank build I dont really want to spend the money on radions. Especially since I dont think 2 over my tank will cover it. The tank dimensions are as follows. 48L 36W 22H. I plan on it being a mixed reef but SPS dominated. I have 2 250Watt electronic icecap ballast so I am planing on using them. The set up will be a retro fir under canopy so what i need help with is bulb selection for the 250 watt hilides. And should I ad 4 54Watt T5s or 2 to suppliment and what bulb combos are everyone likeing in the T5. I have never used T5s so I have no idea what the different colors look like and what which ones help color pop on corals.

I'd go with 14K MH bulbs. for the T5s I'd stick to actinics since you should already have everything else covered with the MH bulbs. Don't need to add anymore PAR with the T5s.

10000k's with four actinics would give you good grow and color but it would depend on what t5's you uses. ati or uv bulbs maybe.
