Help me please

During a water change the tube leading from the pump in the sump leading to the return at the top of the aquarium broke off. I was finally able to get that replaced but when I started everything up again the pump compartment in the sump kept losing all its water and not refilling. Even though I ran pumps my aquarium over night I lost most of my fish. I thought I would try to get help here giving up. This is a Red Sea 350 with usual plumbing. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Is the water going up the new tube and into the tank and is the water in the tank being returned to the sump?

When you say “pump compartment” is losing all its water, where is is going?

Did you change the size of any pipes?

If water was moving in your tank, no fish should have died.

Thank you to everyone who responded to my post. It turned out to be a simple water level mistake. Just lost my husband last month and we enjoyed this hobby together. I'm hoping my fuzzy brain will clear with time. Thanks again.

Thank everyone for their efforts. With help from my son in law got everything running again but lost most fish. Going to take a break and just enjoy the tank as is for a while. Thanks again.
