I have a bare bottom 25 IM lagoon with zoas and sps. Currently have 2 clownfish, purple filefish, and cryptic wrasse.

My tank keeps bottoming out on nutrients and I want to add more fish to feed more. Any suggestions on more colorful fish that stand out and will be ok with current inhabitants and BB tank? I feel limited due to size. Although some may not agree, I am open to a fish that I might have to swap out eventually if it outgrows the tank within reason. Obviously not throwing a baby vlamingii in there so don't hate me for this option.

Aside from feeding more, I am looking for more fish because the cryptic and purple firefish are super shy and hide a lot anytime I come to look at the tank. They come out once comfortable or for feeding but I wish they'd be out more like the clownfish.

Appreciate any help. Pictures and temperament of your own is a plus!!

Your tank is pretty stocked and I wouldn’t really add anything else besides maybe one or two small gobies and like a royal gramma or something. Just feed more, do water changes less, and your nutrients should start going up again.

FWIW, I have a purple firefish in my rs max nano peninsula that hid most of the time. Only 2 other fish in the tank, a bicolor blenny and a hectors goby. He used to just come out to eat, and maybe hover right near his cave.

A bit ago I had to move a power head around for a uv unit, changing the flow completely. Now he's out front and center, relaxed and happy. He still has his bolt hole, but rarely zips into it. Might be worth a try.
