Hello! I just started my reef tank journey about two-three months ago. I would like some assistance placing my corals (scroll to see pictures and tank information). I have done hours of research, but wanted to get some insight from people with experience. Please share any advice, suggestions or concerns you have over the placements I detailed below. Thank you in advance!

Also, any advice you have over taking some of these off the plugs would be much appreciated. I would like to re-glue them to some rubble rock I have and then glue to their new location.

Current corals (from left to right in the pictures below):
  • Goniapora (on plug)
  • Favia (on plug)
  • Riocordia
  • GSP (on tiny plug so not a big deal)
  • Blasto (on plug)
  • 3 Zoas

Coral placement:
  • 1 - Goni
  • 2 - GSP (separated from the other rocks by 1-2 inches)
  • 3 - Riocordia
  • 4 - Favia
  • 5 - Blasto
  • 6 - Zoas

Tank Background and Specs:
  • 75gal with HOB overflow and sump
  • Reef Octo 150INT Skimmer (not currently running)
  • Planning to have cheato in the sump once nutrients demand it
  • T5 hybrid light (2 blue plus, 1 atinic, 1 coral plus)
  • 2 Kessil 36oX
  • 1 MP40 and 1 MP10

Current lighting and flow:
  • Powerheads are on a rotating schedule of reef crest, nutrient transport, lagoon mode and a few others. Max at 20%.
  • Kessils ramp from 5am 0% to 11am 55%. T5 then come on from 11am to 3pm. Kessils than ramp down from 3pm to 9pm.
  • Not sure on par yet, but renting a par meter next week. I am planning to adjust my lighting based on your suggestions and getting about 100-125 par on the sand bed during the peak lighting hours from 11am to 3pm.
