How many weeks broken-in is your skimmer? Are you making very fine (like maybe 1/8th) turns of any adjustment wheel... then let it be for a day at a time?

I did already I have it running with 6 inches of water it just starting making this thick foam

Maybe you just have a lot of DOC or bacteria

Yes I like the question of chemicals. When you add chemicals the skimmer goes nuts. I have a Canister filter and I cannot pinpoint the chemical causing the problem. I just unplugged it for 4 days plugged it in and it was ok. I advise against playing around with valve get it set and leave it alone. Have not touched my in sump Octo since I put it in my sump. The problem was with my HOB eshopps it is on my 40 the octo is on a 129 with a 49 sump. I see you have a sump but what is total volume? I of the top of my head blame the Phosban don't know for sure
