Help removing fish from main tank

Any tips on how to pull a fish out of the main tank which is packed with rocks and hiding places?

Food traps, or cutting the lights and using a red light are the options I have seen.

I made a little speargun out of stainless wire and rubber bands, sort of worked. Also used baited hooks to remove aggressive fish. Sometimes you have to go for fatal options.
