Upon the first power up my new RKL will display the power up sequence which takes all of 5 seconds then goes black. I cannot get it to light up and let me do anything. The power bar has power and is displaying a blinking green status light.

Thanks in advance folks.

Do you have a PC? If so download myReef from digitalaquatics.com website and install. Then hook the SID to a running computer with myReef running. when SID shows up under the tree in myReef then hook only the RKL head unit to the SID. It may require a coupler. once hooked up try and update the firmware om the RKL head unit. If it updates OK. the disconnect it from the SID and plug it back imto the powerbar and retry. The SID is the serial interface device for hooking it up to the computer to either update firmware or program the system once it is powered up and running. It should have come with the system.

Ok I will try this. Going to have to borrow my girlfriends lap top. I'll let you know what happens... Thank you.

Ok so I've done everything you said to do right up to updating the firmware. It tells me right on the main screen that it's out of date. When I click "update" I get this screen:

If you can't make it out from the picture it simply says that the RKL must be plugged directly into the SID... One module at a time, blah blah blah. I clicked verify and an error appears in the bottom under the diagram reading, "Primary checksums don't match" followed by a file and module number.
Not sure how to continue. Any input is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Make sure myReef is not running in full screen mode. It hides the program button. The verify button will only check the module.

No my tank isn't 74.2 degrees. There is no tank yet.
Thanks for your help, n2585722! Couldn't have done it without you.

Glad to here. Looks like you are ready to go when you get the tank up and running.
