I bought 4 captive bred Banggais in hopes of getting at least one pair; unfortunately one disappeared without a trace after 2 months. Have noticed zero fighting amongst them so far so I doubt that was the cause.

I have been trying to determine if I have different sexes but struggling. Tried looking for bumps near anal fin but hard to see. Maybe all three have just one (=female?) but not sure. Do these photos after a big meal help at all for more seasoned eyes? Or just keep waiting

The best way to tell until they pair up is to look for these tiny bumps around their anus, if they have it then it’s a male. Males also usually have slightly more square jaws than females. This is a good example photo from google of what I’m talking about. If they’re younger it will be harder to tell also.
