Good morning everyone. I have to issues I'd like help identifying:

Issue 1: Yellow eye kole tang suddenly has black spots all over her body as of this morning, any thoughts what it could be?

Issue 2: Watanabei angel fins - looks like bacterial or viral infection, just trying to confirm and would love a recommendation on next steps..

I'm not able to see the black spots in the photos on the Kole tang. Here is some information on black ich which is a parasitic worm that afflicts tangs. Does it appear similar to this?

How long have you had the tang?

Need better pics under full white light intensity. The pics of tang somewhat fuzzy but may be skin irritation, and the angel has lymphocystis which is a condition and not disease. Often its associated with water quality issue as simple as elevated ammonia or nitrate and can be that of water from LFS and not yours. Assure to provide Good water quality monitored by a reliable test kit and feed nutritious food with fats such as LRS fish frenzy and mysis shrimp.

I am trying for better pics of the tang, he wont stop moving :)

Ammonia is showing up as 0 on test strip (I know this is not precise, but giant, established and lightly populated tank), and Nitrate is 2ppm (Hannah Checker).

I am feeding Hikari Mysis, LRS fish frenzy and LRS Herbivore frenzy with selcon, + Masstick a few times per week.

Lymphocystis can also come just based on moving a fish from one tank to another (i.e. shipment, etc). Does the tang have any symptoms? Can you put an arrow on the picture (with white lite) if possible which shows the areas/spots that you're concerned about. Could be mucus, black ich, etc. If you could give more history (when you got both fish, your other parameters, any other fish with problems, any other symptoms, etc etc)

Please do better than test strip - consider taking a water sample to an LFS and have them test water for you.

It's a giant tank running for a year, why do you suspect Ammonia?
He suspected ammonia and I merely suggested if he is using a test strip to check levels- have water tested as I have no faith in strips.

Additionally ammonia can be an issue with lymphocystis

Really MN? Post a link to a single thread you’ve ever troubleshot where that happened, that will also show us an instance you’ve seen where a one year running reef tank had ammonia issues someone needed to verify. That example link isn’t coming is the bet

The problem is that praziquantel doesn't work well for encysted Turbellarians. Prazi doesn't actually kills flukes, it just temporarily cause them to relax and fall off the fish (then they cannot reattach). The trouble with Turbellarians is that they live inside a cyst, so do not drop off as easily.

I can't see the black spots on the tang, but if they are tiny, like pepper grains, it is likely that tang Turbellarian.

Some people use organophosphates to treat this, but those are toxic to people, so I avoid them. Formalin dips also work, but again, it is toxic to use. FW dips will kill one species of this worm. In some cases, the disease is self-limiting, it goes away on its own.

The angelfish both have Lymphocystis. that usually goes away on its own in 4 to 6 weeks, although it could get worse before it gets better.

Are you ok? You said you were ignoring me weeks ago - go do your own research. There is a clear relationship between tank changes and shipping and lymphocystis. I merely explained why another poster would have asked about ammonia - and there is a reason - since this poster did not post how old his tank was in the beginning. This isn't hard Brandon - it's clear that lymphocytis can flare with chemical changes in a tank. But - since you seem to have a problem with English - there was nothing in the original post saying it was an xxx month/year old tank. Plus the person was using a 'test strip'. Have a good day.

Brandon - perhaps you should suggest what would help the OP - since you're so focused on 'New Cycling Science' - and the main part of that is disease prevention?

Debates are great as is information for given reefer- No need to get into arguments and this applies too to me also. Lets keep this civilized and allow the OP to learn of their issue.
Weekend around the corner , lets enjoy life and time spent on here.

Totally agree - However - I think it's important to point out that lymphocystis often comes in periods of stress - rather than just a normal tank. One of the most common stressors for fish where I've seen lymphocystis is right after shipping - which has multiple potential stressors - including chemical.
