For all of you that are keeping this coral, where are you keeping it adn what kind of color are you getting. I set mine off in lower light thinking the smooth nature of this acropora might liek a little less light. My piece is growing nicely, encrusting like crazy but it is not a very desireable color. I am getting a purplish/blue sheen to the sort of muddy reddish coral, leanign more to muddy. I don't even know how to describe it...that description is the best I could come up with. I plan to pop it off the rock and move it to a higher light area and see if I can get some of the original clay red to come out. The original colony had an orangeish base and really a lot more clay red in the colony. I am seeing so much more of the blue/purplish/muddy colors and its not pretty :(. Post up your pictures, placement spots, lighting, and thoughts on this one.

I know Andy over at The Blue Glow has this piece and seems like he grows it well. Could hit him up. :)

It likes low even shaded light, in my tank and good flow, I find if mine gets too much light it starts to lighten up.

I guess I should elaborate, I have off center about 12 inches bellow the water line, I have a 250W radium, two blue plus t5s and a rb leds on either side of the MH. Its also about 8 inches away and 4 or 5 inches below a MP40 which goes about 80%. Its done well here, but it was shaded and I have been redoing my rock work, and its not shaded now and its a nice pink red now with a little green hint, and the new growth is lighter pink. So right now I think its getting a little too much light. I tried to take a pic, my cell isn't capturing it at all right now and my SLR was dead so I had to charge it.

Your light setup sounds very close to mine!!!...even down to the ReefBright LED's on the sides, :D. I have my Hellboy in a similar place as well, offset on the side of the tank out of direct light per se. It sits about 10-12" under the waterline with some decent flow, not a ton, but pretty good flow. I have no pink, no red, just this muddy reddish hue. I'll try to take a picture. Yours sounds way better than mine.

I have mine really high up in my tank. In fact, it is very hard to get good photos of it because I have it on a magrock about 4" below water line on back wall. So mine sits about 10" below my t5 fixture. I recently just moved it back to this spot. I had it on the side of the tank because I was resting another frag on the magrock. For the last month, it was outside my 48" fixture, still really high up, not getting much light. I also just checked my p04 yesterday and it is higher than normal, so my color is not at its best. I also have a photo of mine in the Hellboy thread.

Cant wait for mine to grow out like that. This coral was really hard to photograph, and I am not very good at taking pics either, but this doesn't really do it justice. The darker areas in the photo on more green than the picture shows and it is mich brighter than this, I think as it grows out it will deepen in color. It was much lighter when I first got it.

On a side note, I snapped a quick pick of my RW

Hmmm, I am thinking mine needs more light. I am going to move it to a new spot and see what becomes of it :).
